Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is waiting on Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick in view of weekend’s trip to fierce rivals Liverpool, who also are keen to have key duo Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres back.
34-year-old Welsh winger Giggs has been nursing a hamstring problem since the Newcastle United tie at the start of the season, while England midfielder Carrick, who has missed the World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Andorra and Croatia, is recovering from an ankle problem.
On the other hand, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has not put a return date on captain Gerrard, who is working hard to come back following groin operation. While Spain striker Torres, who picked up a hamstring strain against Aston Villa, is also racing against time, to make it for the Anfield battle with the defending champions.
